Cinco de Derby

Whew!! What a busy weekend! Confession time: I hate when both Saturday and Sunday are go, go, go because I never feel restored enough for the workweek. This week was super busy, but I'd be lying if I said it wasn't fun.

This weekend was two of my favorite days rolled into one. Cinco de Mayo and the Kentucky Derby!! I don't know why I love the Kentucky Derby so much I just do. It's one of my life goals to go one day. I've never had a mint julep either so that's on the list as well.

Here's what my weekend looked like:

The Color Me Rad 5k came to Syracuse on Saturday. During this race they have stations where they douse you in colored corn starch!

Before & After
Everyone did a great job!
Ruby was covered in blue by the time we left! She had so much fun though :)
After the race, we went back to a friend's house and had an early Cinco de Mayo party! The weather was perfection for an outdoor barbecue. Here's what our menu looked like:

We made steak kabobs (yum!), guacamole and tequila laced pico de gallo (thank you Rachael Ray!) And those Lime-A-Ritas? 8% alcohol. Dangerous! There were also a few antics....

Funny Cinco De Mayo Ecard: I'm not above using obscure Mexican battles to justify my drinking.

This is 5 girls on a 4-wheeler. And then the boys had to do it too but of course none of them could touch each other...

And that's how the night ended. Such a great day! Summer is not even here yet so I can't wait for more nights like this.

I don't have any pictures from Sunday, but Sunday was also jam packed and super fun. Ruby had her first training class and did very well. Then I went with friends down to Binghamton for a birthday party for a little girl who was in the hospital with Kassie at the same time and also had open heart surgery. Another little 5 year old miracle!! The girls don't get to see each other very often but when they do it's so much fun! Both girls zonked out on the way back to Syracuse. I wish I did too, I did NOT get enough sleep this weekend! When I got home Jeffry and I went on an almost 3 mile walk all over our neighborhood. (I guess we had to walk off the ice cream we got first) Ruby had her first ice cream too!
