Sunday Social

I forgot I did Sunday Social and never posted it! I should really start scheduling these things. I really don't know why I don't...

1. Name 4 jobs you've had in your life. My first job ever was an a "teacher" at an after-school program at a local preschool. I have also cooked at a restaurant (favorite job ever ever ever), taken school pictures and worked in a call center (least fave!)

2. Name 4 movies you would watch over and over. Cruel Intentions. Forrest Gump. Con-Air. Backdraft. Four movies I must watch if I am channel surfing and find them on TV.

gotta go watch this right now, bye
3. Name 4 places you have lived. I don't even have 4! My parents house, college, our apartment. That's it! <3
WHAT I LOVE MOST ABOUT MY HOME IS WHO I SHARE IT WITH. Cyanotype by Anna Maria Huber

4. Name 4 of your favorite foods. Anything breakfast, pizza, a good steak, and nachos

5. Name 4 things you always carry with you. iPhone, chapstick, keys, wallet

I'm ________ and I'm a lip balm addict. Anyone else?
Right now I have 1 in my pocket, 2 in my purse, 2 in my desk, 2 in my car, 1 on our coffee table and one next to my bed. and that's not counting the ones waiting to be opened. The first step is admitting you have a problem, right?

6. Name 4 places you have been on vacation. Only 4?! Well here are my favorites: Jekyll Island, GA, anywhere in Maine, Gettysburg, PA & Savannah, GA

Gettysburg, PA
Somewhere in Maine. Rockland I think. Taken from a Lobster boat!
This took place in Savannah. I saw the Forrest Gump bench in person! And saw where they filmed some of the Vietnam and shrimping scenes, which was actually on St. Simons Island, GA

Sunday Social

1. Favorite Thanksgiving Memory Some of my favorite Thanksgivings were ones that we spent at the firehouse. My dad was a firefighter, and there are still emergencies on holidays, so the guys that were on shift, all the families would come to the firehouse and we would all have Thanksgiving together. We would have 3 or 4 turkeys, 6-8 pies, and all the side dishes you could image.

I die over this sweatshirt
2. Favorite Thanksgiving Food Believe it or not I am not a huge fan of turkey. I would have to say my favorite Thanksgiving food is probably my dads stuffing. I like my stuffing nice and crispy, not soggy.

3. What is a Thanksgiving Tradition you and your family have? The Dallas Cowboys of course! We are diehards and watching the game is one of my favorite parts about the day.

4. Show us a favorite Thanksgiving picture(or 5) from years past I just happened to find this on good but honestly, I die. Could you just imagine Spencer and Ruby!?!

5. What are you most looking forward to about this Thanksgiving? I can tell you one thing I am not looking forward to is being on call for work. But at least it's the only major holiday I will have to work for. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays of the year, so I am looking forward to spending the day with my family, eating yummy food and hopefully a Cowboys win!

Sunday Social

I almost forgot about Sunday Social!

1. What were you like in middle school and high school? In middle school I was a little shit. No, seriously. I could have turned out really bad if I didn't have parents that kicked my butt. I was better in high school. Still very assertive though. It's the red hair, it's in my nature.

red hair sir in my opinion....#redheads

2. What were your favorite pastimes? Hanging out at my friends houses.

3. What songs were you obsessed with? I loved the Spice Girls! (they're still my favorite Pandora station)

Spice World!!! (1997) Love Love LOVE!!!!!
Spice up your life!

4. What fashion statement do you look backing and cringe? In middle school I was such a tomboy! Oversized shirts and JNCO jeans were not a good look!!! I was so skinny back then though, I miss that!

Sweet puka shell necklace! Said no one ever... -_-

5. Who was your celeb crush? Ryan Phillippe

I die.
6. What was your favorite movie? Cruel Intentions. "Colorblind" by Counting Crows was "our song" lol

Sunday Social

It's Sunday again! I can't believe how fast the weeks are going by...

1. What is your dream job? Wife and mom. Simple as that :)

SAHM...I'm starting to feel ready for this!

2. If you had just won the lottery and didn't need to work for money, what would you do with your time? I would be a boss SAHM! I loved that my mom was home when I was a kid, and I want to be able to do that for mine.

SAHM

3. What piece of career advice would you give to someone just starting out in your field? uhhhh.... I don't really know that I'm qualified to give career advice... I spent an insane amount of money getting my degree in Interior Design, and I work for the cable company. I loved college, and I love design, and I love my job, buuutttt.... I could certainly do what I'm doing without the debt that I've got now. How's that for inspirational? lol

4. What would be your ideal “just for fun” job? Freelance interior designer or interior design consultant. Taking jobs here and there when I have the time, but keeping my family as numero uno.

5. What was your first “real” job? My first real job was part time at a local pre-school after school program. I was 15 I think.

...and now back to watching my Cowboys kick some San Diego booty!

Sunday Social

1. What is your favorite handbag you’ve ever owned? I really love the Grace Adele bag I carry now, but one of the bags I've liked the most, and probably the one I got the most complements on was an Ecko Red bag that I got at TJ Maxx a long time ago. I carried it until the lining was all ripped up. I loved the tough leather with the girly ruffles.

2. What is your dream handbag you lust over? I would looooove a buttery leather tote in a cognac color. This Marc by Marc Jacobs bag is PERFECTION. I want to rub my face on it. Ahhh I'm dying over it! I imagine it with dark skinnies, a button down shirt, cognac boots and a big fluffy infinity scarf. Fall perfection.

3. What are the daily essentials in your purse or work bag? I really don't use a lot of "stuff" that is in my purse. Keys, wallet, sunnies. That's pretty much it.

4. What’s in your purse (with pictures)? I wrote a post about it! Here's the overview, but feel free to check out the full post for more info.

Sunday, er, Thursday Social

I missed Sunday Social on Sunday, but the questions were all about my favorite time of year, so I had to answer them!!

1. What is your favorite fall activity? Lounging with a pumpkin spice coffee! Picture it: Comfy yoga pants, a fuzzy sweater, a warm blanket, and a steaming PS latte.

2. Do you follow a football team? If so, which one and why? America's team baby! So we haven't been so great the last few seasons, but this one is perfect so far! And against the Giants at home, no less! I'm also devoted to New York's college team, 'Cuse!!!

3. What is something fun about fall in your area? Upstate New York is SO beautiful in the fall.

Buttermilk Falls State Park, Ithaca, NY
Lake Durant Campground, Blue Mountain Lake, NY
Adirondacks National Park
4. What are your favorite fall staple outfits? Big cozy sweaters, leggings or skinny jeans, with boots. Feel free to check out my Style board on Pinterest.

"Chilly Fall Mornings" by felicia-alexandra on Polyvore

5. What things are you looking forward to most about this coming fall season? Relaxing!! I love sitting around the house on a drizzly day. I'm such an introvert. In the summer I feel guilty if I'm not out enjoying all the sunshine, so the fall weather is like a free pass to be lazy.

6. What is your favorite fall holiday? Tradition? My favorite fall holiday is Thanksgiving. I love spending the day with my family, the food is comforting and yummy, and there's football all day!

I also have a favorite fall tradition. In upstate NY, we are part of the salmon run, and every fall since Jeffry and I have been dating, we have visited the Salmon River Fish Hatchery at the peak of the season (right around Columbus Day). It is so cool to see all the fish swimming upsteam to the hatchery, and getting herded in where their eggs will be harvested for the next generation of Salmon. It is also really fun to watch the fly fishermen catch them.

It's weird, but it's ours, what can I say :) <3

Stay tuned for pictures from this years trip! Coming next month and I can't wait!

Sunday Social

Well here I am, better late than never! Jeffry had the day off and our schedule was PACKED! Here's the latest Sunday Social:

1. What do you miss most about being a kid? Hands down, no stress!! I miss not caring what day it is, or having a do to list, or bills!

2. Dd you have a nickname growing up? What was it? I had a couple. My aunt always called me Heidikins, and the guys at the firehouse always called me Lil Red, because I got my red hair from my grandfather and his firehouse buddies called him Red.

3. What was your favorite thing to do at recess? Just hang with my friends, or the swings. At my elementary school playground there was also this cool bridge that was a fun place to hang.

4. What did you want to be when you grew up? Doesn't everyone start out wanting to be a teacher?

a rare moment of sisterly love at my sister's kindergarten graduation

5. Did you participate in any school activities? I did drama club and track. And I was no super star at either believe me lol
He's the track star in this family! :)
6. What is the funniest thing you did as a kid that your parents still remind you about? Hmm this ones a toughie! I've always been a slob that's for sure. My mom says I am so much like my aunt, and she used to say that I left my dirty clothes in a pile on the floor just like she used to.

Twins? Not quite! That's my aunt!

Sunday Social

1. When you were little what did you want to be when you grew up? The first thing I ever remember wanting to be was a teacher. I think because, like most kids, its one of the first professions we are exposed to besides that of our parents.

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week to someone who taught me the best lesson of all is to not become a teacher.

2. What was your favorite way to kill time as a kid? I loved to play house and school, and Barbies! My sister and I had sooo many Barbies!

3. When did you get your first cell phone? I got my first cell phone as a present from my parents for my high school graduation. It was a sweet LG flip phone! It didn't even have a camera!
^^^This was it! I can't believe I found it.
I also can't believe I found it online for sale. $40 for poor condition! Seriously?
4. What is your favorite magazine to read? I love magazines, and I read a lot of them, but by far my favorite is HGTV Magazine. So many great things in there!!

5. What is the one random object people would be surprised to find in your purse? Hmm I think i have a couple weird things in my purse but maybe one thing that most people don't carry around is Tums. I have a container or a Ziploc baggie of Tums in every single one of my purses lol. Think I have a problem?

Sunday Social

1. What are 3 items you can’t live without on a daily basis (water, food, shelter, and clothes don’t count) Jeffry & my furry kiddos, my phone, coffee, wine

Hand painted Sign - 'I love you more than coffee' (MEDIUM) on Reclaimed Wood

2. What is your all time favorite book? Why? The Cheese Monkeys by Chip Kidd. It is one of the only books I've read and re-read multiple times. It's revolutionary.

Get it here
3. What is something you’d like to accomplish before the end of 2013? I would love to just be growing, at work, at life and in my relationships.

Are they cute or what?!
4. If you could go back and relive any year of your life which year would it be? This is a toughie. I don't think I would want to go back. Not because I had terrible experiences, but because everything happened the way it did for a reason.

5. What do you wish people knew about you without you having to tell them? I would probably say my job, just because it is so hard to explain what I do!

1. If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be? Nachos. I can seriously eat anything with chips. C'mon tell me you don't want to eat these.

here

2. What’s your guilty pleasure/comfort food? Chips and cheese. Sometimes, if Jeffry is not going to be home for dinner, I will pile chips on a plate, top with cheese and microwave. It's the worst.

3. What’s the weirdest/craziest thing you’ve ever eaten? I'm not tooooo much of an adventurous eater. Probably the weirdest thing I have eaten would be calamari or sushi.

4. What foods do you avoid at all costs? Mushrooms. They're just not my favorite.

5. What meal reminds you of your childhood? My mom cooked a lot when I was a kid. Her chicken and dumplings come to mind. I also really loved Spaghetti O's. I still eat them with slices of cheddar cheese. Yum.

6. Share one of your favorite recipes and the story behind it. A lot of my favorite things to make are things that I just throw together! I love using the crock pot, and one of the things we love to have is pot roast. This doesn't really count as a recipe, but I recently discovered these at Target and I am SOLD!! I have tried the pot roast one and the sweet and sour chicken and they are both so good! You have to check them out!

Seriously, so good!
